Sees several opportunities around the use of UV-LED technology.
Smir Group has entered into an agreement to purchase the ørland-based technology company Ambiente Aqua AS. The agreement involves the transfer of all rights.
“We have over a long period been working on two specific arrangements that involves the use of UV-LED technology, and we see this technology as an exciting area in Smir Group. Ambiente`s technology fits very well with what we are working with, and we have therefore chosen to buy the company”, says Group Chief Executive of Smir Group, Frank Øren, in a press release.
Ambiente Aqua AS was founded in 2021 by the entrepreneurs Kurt Magne Berge, Roald Rø and Gunder Andre Johansen, and is today a company based on the development of light and energy systems with a particular focus on UV-LED light.
Øren underlines the strategic importance of the acquisition:
“One of our focus areas is to develop and offer preventive solutions to the aquaculture industry, and there we see that UV-LED technology can have a great potential in the future if it is used in the right way. We are continuously working to develop new preventive concepts, and we see several opportunities around the use of UV-LED together with our solutions.”
